Opis
Only once every 4 years does the traditional "Schön- und Schiachperchten" parade through the town center of St. Johann take place.
The Pongau Perchtenlauf, which takes place alternately in the towns of Altenmarkt, Bischofshofen, Gastein and St. Johann, is the largest in the province of Salzburg.
Over time, a large number of masks have split into two main groups. One side is led by the Schönperchten with their table-like headdresses, while the other is represented by the Schiachperchten with terrifying larvae. An abundance of accompanying figures circle around both groups. All Perchten figures - including the female ones - are traditionally only represented by men.
